Server Down

We guarantee a 99.9% uptime, which means in a given year, there can be 8.76 hours of down time.  You need to understand that a web server is
like any other computer, and they break sometimes.  I would say that a 2 hour recovery is pretty impressive.

Once a server goes down, its down. There isn’t anything you can do about it except wait for it to get fixed, unless you have a mirrored or redundant system already in place. For clients who need high priory email service and want 99.999% there are there options:

1) We have one type of fail-over system that uses 3 separate servers to collect mail in the even the primary server goes down, so that no emails will get lost.  You can’t read the emails while they are in holding but it ensures emails wont get lost in cyberspace. This system is available for an extra $15/month

2) We have a second fail-over system that is the same as the first but also allows access to emails while the primary is down for $30/month.

3) There are other companies with service level agreements for enterprise web and email hosting but you can expect to pay at least $75/month.  Rackspace and Intermedia are the industry leaders for this type of service.

The above solutions have nothing to do with your website, so if website uptime is also critical, we could look at another service for mirroring your website.

If your up time is as critical as you say it is, we can work together to create a more redundant system, but that will mean paying twice or three times as much, because it will have to employ multiple servers.

This type of double and triple redundancy is actually pretty common, we have a couple clients that run multiple servers for email and multiple servers for web.  They also pay up to $300 per month for all those servers, but it is NEVER down.
